London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Asian Business Association (ABA) is widely regarded as the most important forum for Asian business and provides a voice for the London Asian business community. The ABA’s success is a true reflection of the success of Asian entrepreneurs in the UK. In addition to hosting networking events, we facilitate cross border trade and investment particularly with areas where the Asian community has historic links.

2025 was the year we celebrated thirty years of ABA. In 1995, LCCI set up ABA under the inspirational chairmanship of the late Lord Gulam Noon alongside Subhash Thakrar, a much-valued supporter of the Chamber. The ABA Committee specialises in the needs of Asian businesses and helps to create the best economic conditions in which businesses can flourish nationally and globally.
Business and enterprise are part of the UK fabric. Ethnic diversity has also become a recognisable feature of the UK population demographics. In London, where there is both a high proportion of ethnic minorities, particularly Black and Asian people, and entrepreneurial activity, ethnic diversity in business is brought into sharp focus.
This paper focuses on ethnic diversity in business and what is needed to remove the barriers impeding minority-led business success. The report looks at the correlation between demographics of individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds and subsequent success in business and highlights the problems that ethnic minorities face accessing finance and procurement opportunities.
