City of London Leaders Address Climate Change at Net Zero Summit

Key figures from the City of London came together to address the pressing issue of climate change at the Net Zero Summit held at Mansion House earlier this month. Alderman Prem Goyal OBE represented the City of London Chamber at the event, highlighting the City's ongoing commitment to achieving its Net Zero target.

Chris Hayward, Policy Chairman at the City of London Corporation, delivered a significant speech emphasising the City’s dedication to combating the climate emergency. Hayward underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in meeting the Net Zero goals, reflecting the City’s proactive stance on environmental sustainability.

The summit also featured remarks from Patricia Scotland KC, Secretary General of The Commonwealth. Baroness Scotland drew attention to the severe weather patterns affecting Commonwealth countries, attributing these changes to the escalating climate crisis. She stressed the urgent need for collective action to address the climate emergency, highlighting the devastating impact on member nations.

In a noteworthy discussion, Alderman Prem Goyal OBE engaged with Baroness Scotland and Chris Hayward on how the City of London can support global efforts to mitigate climate change. Their dialogue centered on the pivotal role that financial hubs like London can play in driving sustainability initiatives and fostering international cooperation to achieve environmental goals.

The Net Zero Summit at Mansion House served as a platform for influential leaders to reaffirm their commitment to climate action and explore strategic partnerships aimed at securing a sustainable future.
