Connect to Work: Opportunities for LCCI Members
Unlocking Talent, Supporting Growth
Connect to Work is a new UK government-funded supported employment programme launching in Spring 2025. Designed to address hidden unemployment and assisting disabled individuals, people with health conditions, and those facing complex employment barriers, it provides businesses with access to a diverse talent pool while offering structured support to ensure long-term job retention. As a key element of the Get Britain Working Strategy, this initiative aims to reduce economic inactivity, increase workforce participation, and contribute to local economic growth.
Why Get Involved?
Businesses sometimes face challenges in finding skilled and motivated employees and Connect to Work offers a solution by linking businesses with candidates who have undergone tailored employment support. Through this programme, businesses gain access to a pool of individuals who are ready to contribute effectively in the workplace. The programme also provides ongoing assistance to both employers and employees, helping new hires transition smoothly and succeed in their roles. By improving workforce participation, businesses can benefit from a stronger local economy and a more stable customer base. Additionally, participation in Connect to Work aligns with corporate social responsibility goals, demonstrating a commitment to inclusion and social impact.
How the Programme Works for Employers
Connect to Work follows a collaborative, evidence-based model that integrates employment, health, and skills support. Employers engaging in the programme will receive recruitment support tailored to their workforce needs, ensuring that candidates are pre-screened and well-matched to job roles. Once hired, employees benefit from dedicated advisors who provide assistance to ensure long-term success in their positions. Where necessary, businesses can access funding and resources for training and development. The programme is designed to be flexible, allowing companies to participate as direct employers or work through specialist organisations to develop inclusive hiring strategies. By creating a structured pathway to employment, Connect to Work helps businesses build a resilient and diverse workforce.
