Igor Bartkiv: From Ukraine to the U.K.
This week, accompanied by LCCI’s Ukrainian project support officer Igor Bartkiv, LCCI's CEO Richard Burge is visiting the capital of Ukraine as part of a delegation from the City of London.
In charge of Ukraine's regional Chamber of Commerce (Ivano-Frankivsk), Igor is also known as a humanitarian leader now serving as a bridge between aid providers here in the U.K. and those who are seeking help back home.
Igor was in the middle of a work trip right here in London when a friend broke “the terrifying news” of Russia's invasion to him. He rushed home the soonest he could and within merely three days, he managed to build a humanitarian hub where volunteers gathered together to save their homeland.
“At its peak, we handled several 20-ton trucks of aid per day and forwarded them to the places most in need.”
Fast-forward to almost a year later, Igor is now working closely with influential organisations like LCCI, NGOs, authorities and refugee associations to ensure support and assistance are readily available to the people in need.
