LCCI at Party Conferences 2024

The political party conferences in September and October 2024 will provide an important opportunity for the business community to engage with policymakers across the political spectrum, as a new government embarks on its mission to secure sustained economic growth and prosperity. London and its business community are key to this ambition, as the engine room of the UK economy and a vital gateway which spreads jobs and opportunity across the country.

A senior LCCI delegation will be attending Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat party conferences, to advocate on behalf of members for the policy solutions they need to thrive, ahead of the Chancellor’s much anticipated first budget in the autumn.

Overview:

  • Liberal Democrats Autumn Conference, 14-17 September, The Brighton Centre
    • Business Day: 16 September
  • Labour Annual Conference, 22-25 September, Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Liverpool
    • Business Day: 23 October
  • Conservatives Autumn Conference, 29 September – 2 October, ICC Birmingham
    • Business Day: 30 September

Note that tickets to attend conferences are purchased via the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrats’ websites.

During party conference season, LCCI will be engaging with cross-party stakeholders, hosting fringe events with some of the UK’s most influential thinktanks and contributing to discussions related to growth, trade & investment, planning & housing, immigration and skills. We’ll be championing the voice of business, helping to shape policy that addresses the issues they face in unlocking growth, as outlined in our pre-election manifesto

We are keen to collaborate with and support our members and partners attending the conferences, as well as extend invitations to our events. Please do reach out to policy@londonchamber.co.uk to let us know if you’ll be there!

New Economics Foundation Logo

Sunday 22 September, 6.00pm - 6.45pm, Crown Plaza, Liverpool

London has one of the strongest and most dynamic economies in the world. Yet despite the great level of economic activity that takes place there, many of London’s residents also suffer from high levels of economic exclusion. Recent analysis by the New Economics Foundation revealed a successful but divided city, where high paying and secure jobs exist alongside job insecurity and in-work poverty. As the government prepares to devolve powers to more areas in England to kick-start growth, what lessons can we learn from Labour’s original devolution deal? What can government and businesses do to help create more inclusive economies in London and beyond? And how can we shape local growth plans to deliver for everyone?

  • Sarah Longlands, Chief Executive, Centre for Local Economic Strategies
