HS2 is critical infrastructure for London - LCCI

Commenting on HS2 ahead of plans being submitted to Parliament for consideration next week, Colin Stanbridge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said: "We have long supported HS2 as a key part of the solution to the capacity problems on vital routes into London.

"The area around Euston station is ripe for redevelopment. A wholesale regeneration of the station as part of HS2's construction will bring untold additional benefits to the area -we are pleased to see that the views of business have been taken into account in this new, and more ambitious plan for Euston. By continuing to work with the local business community, HS2 can help to build and maintain a broad base of support.

"HS2 will bring much needed extra capacity and connectivity to the UK and the development of Euston station will only enhance this; hopfully in a similar way to the redevelopment of Kings Cross.

"We have a great opportunity here to develop a truly integrated transport system - something that has eluded Ministers for decades. By ensuring direct links between HS2 and Heathrow Airport, as well as integration between HS2, Crossrail 2 and the existing rail network, the UK can optimise its strategic transport infrastructure and reap enhanced economic benefits."
