LCCI respond to London Living Wage rise

Wednesday 23 October 2024

Karim Fatehi MBE, CEO of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said:

"London is the most expensive region in the UK to live and work, making it essential to enhance worker stability by offering wages that align with the high cost of living and strengthening employment rights. These measures are crucial for ensuring that the capital remains a globally competitive place to both live and work.

"The increase in the London Living Wage is an important boost for workers, but support must now be given to businesses, particularly SMEs, to ensure they are in the position to match this new level.

"Like much of the new employment regulation from the Government, stability, certainty and flexibility will be the key to unlocking the long-term growth we need. We look forward to continuing to work with the Government to deliver the best possible conditions for London's workers and business alike."
