LCCI respond to post-lockdown tier system
Monday 23 November 2020
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry have responded to the re-introduction of a tier system once lockdown ends on December 2.
Richard Burge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “For some months now we have heard the same concerns from businesses: the Government don’t sufficiently explain the evidence basis for specific sector restrictions, the frequency of changes make it very difficult to plan, and a lack of enforcement of the rules and flawed testing and tracing system undermine their effectiveness anyhow. News of rapid testing pilots is unlikely to remedy those concerns.
“London’s businesses now await news of the capital’s tier allocation, related impact and support. Businesses in the centre of London will particularly be hoping that the Spending Review delivers targeted support for the capital – which is suffering significantly from loss of commuter and tourist revenue, and potentially faces restrictions that continue to compound that challenge.”
