LCCI welcome international travel rule changes

Friday 17 September 2021

London Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the changes made to England's international travel rules, saying that they will boost both outbound and inbound economic recovery for London and the country.

Richard Burge, Chief Executive, said:

“Whilst the ability of fully vaccinated passengers to holiday with fewer testing requirements when returning will likely make the headlines, and indeed it will bring a boost to aviation, outbound tourism and business travel sectors – this announcement also sees the expansion of the number of international visitors who can come to England with the same rules applying. That’s also crucial for our economic recovery, and will be very much welcomed in central London, where so many businesses rely upon inbound tourism and travel spend.

"There’s still a number of nations for whom these amendments to the system do not apply, so next up the government need to safely expand the list further, unlocking even more of our economic recovery.”
