The Chairman of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Tuesday 2 August 2022

It is with great sadness that London Chamber of Commerce and Industry announces the death of its Chairman Roddy Caxton Spencer. Roddy had been a member of the Board from 2014, representing our Patrons’ Besso Insurance Group and he was elected our Chairman in January 2020. During this period, he was Chairman and CEO of Besso Overseas Operations and Managing Director of its International Division. He was also Chairman of London Scottish Rugby Football Club.

Richard Burge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:

“This is desperately sad news for all our colleagues. Roddy was a familiar face, a reassuring presence when things got tough, and a relentless advocate of our purpose and work. He was a dear friend and a trusted confidante”

Julia Onslow-Cole, Deputy Chair of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said:

“As a Board we have lost an inspirational leader and as Board Members we have all lost a friend who led by example through his calm and measured approach”.
